A
boy was sent out to the field by his father to take care of the sheep. There
were over one hundred sheep to watch.
“If
a wolf comes to the field, you must call out ‘Wolf, wolf!’” the boy’s father
said. ”There are men working in the next field. They will come and drive the
wolf away.”
The
boy watched the sheep for many days. He began to grow tired of watching them.
He was alone. He wished that he had someone to play with.
He
could see the men working in the other fields, but they were far away. They
never came to talk with him.
One
day, he remembered what his father had told him about the wolf. He saw the men
working in the field. He wondered whether they would come if he asked help from
them.
“A
wolf! A wolf!” he cried. ”please help me!”
When
the men heard the boy, they stopped working. Across the fields, they run.
“Where
is the wolf?” they shouted. ”Where is the wolf?”
The
boy thought the men look very funny. He laughed and laughed.
Then
he said, “There is no wolf. I wanted to have some fun. It was only a joke.”
The
men went back to their work. They were very angry. They did not think it was a
joke.
Again
he cried out. “A wolf! A wolf!”
Again
the men came running across the fields.
“Where
is the wolf?” they shouted.
Again
the boy laughed at them and said, “There is no wolf. I wanted to have some fun.
I wanted to see you run.”
The
men were very angry. They had no time for the joke of a foolish boy.
“Don’t
call us again,” they said to him and went back to their work.
At
last, the wolf came one day. The boy saw him come out of the forest and run toward
the sheep. The boy was frightened when he saw the wolf.
“Help!
Help! A wolf! A wolf!” he called out to the men. This time, the men did not run
to help him. They went on with their work. One man said, ”It is too hot to run
so far.” Another one said, ”He is only joking. He is a foolish boy.”
The
wolf caught one of the sheep and killed it. He dragged it off into the forest.
The
boy never called for help just for fun again.

These
type of story has a little bit of comedy and an interesting one. The children will
enjoy reading and listening to it. It is all about the boy who makes fun of lying to people. The moral of this story is “Lying will lead you to danger.” This is
very important because it had been taught to us since we were a child. And if
ever you always tell a lie, people will always remember it and if you tend to
tell a truth, no one will ever believe you and it will lead you to danger.
Another lesson is “Do not make fun of
other people.” They are also human, they have also feelings and can be
hurt.
